The Global Waste-to-Energy Research and Technology Council (WtERT®) is an international academic network dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge and practical solutions for sustainable waste management.
WtERT is jointly stewarded by the Earth Engineering Center at Columbia University (USA) and the College of Energy Engineering at Zhejiang University (China), ensuring strong academic leadership, scientific integrity, and international collaboration.
Hosted within university environments, WtERT brings together researchers, engineers, and academic institutions to advance the study of waste valorisation, resource recovery, and circular economy systems. Its activities are grounded in scientific research, education, and global knowledge exchange.
WtERT operates as a network of Institutional Members (universities and research institutions), each contributing to the development of the Council’s mission through designated academic representatives.

Scientific and Strategic Steering Group
The Scientific and Strategic Steering Group is composed of senior experts and trusted individuals from WtERT’s academic network who support the Chairman and Executive President in maintaining the scientific integrity, strategic direction, and international coherence of the organization.
Members serve in a voluntary capacity and are designated based on their expertise and long-standing contribution to WtERT’s mission. The Group does not constitute a governing board and does not exercise fiduciary or corporate authority.
